Stacey Crowley (Architect) — Scenic Nevada Heroe

Stacey moved to Reno in October of 2003. After living in San Francisco, Albuquerque, St. Louis and Detroit she was delighted to recognize the high desert of the Truckee Meadows as home. Since joining Scenic Nevada last winter, Click to enlarge photo she has been involved in the creation and presentation of "Sprawl in the Truckee Meadows", the InSNC (Initiative for Scenic Nevada Communities) committee's PowerPoint presentation describing the issues and alternatives to unmanaged growth in our region. She will also be presenting a lecture on current infill projects in Reno, through the generous financial support of the John Ben Snow Memorial Trust.

She and lawyer, Mark Wetjen, created the Reno Project out of a call to action brought forth by community leaders in the area. The challenge to the Creative Class types was to actively participate and significantly influence the success and vibrancy of this place. By assembling a group of other talented young professionals who had the desire to realize the vision of a thriving downtown they have come to realize the energy and validity of such a group.

She also sits on the Arts District Committee for the City of Reno's Arts and Culture Commission. This group helps to strengthen the arts and culture in the Arts and Culture district in downtown Reno by providing assistance to local artists, organizations and supporting City efforts to revitalize the area. One of her current roles is as Project Coordinator for the Million Lights project. The Million Lights project will enhance the vibrancy and safety of the Truckee River Corridor within the Arts District by providing festive lighting along the bridges crossing the Truckee as well as along the river walk and pedestrian pathways.

She has recently been appointed to the Truckee Meadows Growth Task Force, charged by the City of Reno, City of Sparks and Washoe County. This group will creatively urge the Truckee Meadows community to maintain our rich quality of life by evaluating and recommending proactive and positive opportunities to challenges concerning land use planning, economic development and diversification, preservation of natural resources, fiscally responsible governance, and social justice - with the ultimate goal of a sustainable region.

Stacey's professional experience as an architect includes a variety of project types, including public sector, medical, commercial, and residential, and revitalization projects in the urban areas in New Mexico and Nevada. She carries strong client relationship and management skills in projects of varying degrees of scope. Stacey is a LEEDTM Accredited Professional with a strong interest in sustainable design and has participates in committees and conferences on sustainability.
