2007 Scenic Nevada Photo Contest

The sixth annual photo contest for high school students and adults to promote awareness of Nevada's scenic beauty and blight was announced today by Scenic Nevada.

Deadline to submit photos is April 1.

Each spring Scenic Nevada and Nevada Office Machines cosponsor the photo contest for college and high school students as well as adults in an effort to promote the importance of "preserving, protecting and enhancing the scenic character of Nevada and its roadways.

Judges will review the photos for originality, creativity and imagination, along with photographic quality. The photos submitted can depict either the positive or negative affects a community or its roadsides have on Nevada's scenery.

Two grand prizes of $150 each will be awarded for the best photo showing scenic beauty and the other for blight. Other prizes include first place, $100; second place, $50; and third place, $25. High school students and adults will be judged separately in the first, second and third place categories.

Photos should be mailed to Scenic Nevada, P.O. Box 32, Reno, NV 89504. Contest rules are:

• Open to high school and college students as well as adults
• Limit two entries per person, one beauty and one blight
• Photographs must be taken in Nevada
• Photographs shall be 5 by 7 inch, do not mount photos
• Photographs must have a 3 by 5 inch card attached with the contestant's name, address, phone number, email address, where the photo was taken and a short statement of what the photo shows about Nevada's beauty or blight. Students should include their school, grade and teacher
• Only one prize awarded per person
• All photographs submitted become the property of Scenic Nevada and may be displayed or published in our ongoing efforts or on our website www.scenicnevada.org
