Scenic Nevada has selected winning photographs in their 2008 Photo Contest "Beauty or Blight" for Nevada High School Students and Adults. The purpose of the Scenic Nevada 2008 "Photo Contest" for high school students and adults was to create an awareness of the importance of preserving, protecting and enhancing the scenic character of Nevada.

Judges of over 694 individual photographs (an increase of 166 photos from 2007) from throughout Nevada were: Penny Roskoski, Chairperson, and Photographer; Neal Cobb, Historian; Marilyn Naylor, Teacher; Bob Goodman, Photographer/Writer and Marilyn Melton, Artist

Jordan Fenn of Henderson received a third place prize for this photo in the high school division of the "Beauty" category.

Patrick McEnulty of Las Vegas, a high school student, won the overall grand prize for this photo showing "Beauty" in Nevada.

First place in the adult division of the "Beauty" category went to Matt Grunert of Carson City.

Samantha Fisher, a Las Vegas high school student, won the overall grand prize for this photo showing "Blight" in Nevada.

Lauren Weed of Las Vegas won first place for this photo in the high school student division of the "Beauty" category.

For this photo, Toni Brody of Las Vegas won an honorable mention in the adult category for "Blight."

Erin Venters of Reno received honorable mention for this photo in the adult division of the "Beauty" category.

Kelly Burke of Henderson [Las Vegas] won second place in the high school division of the "Beauty" contest for this photo of Mt. Charleston

Brian Davis of Henderson won an honorable mention for this photo in the high school division's "Beauty" category.

Terry L. Smith of Carson City won third place in the adult division of the "Blight" contest for this photo taken at the American Flats.
